Sometimes Conversion Rates Can Be TOO High!

If you are a regular reader of my Blog or my Conversion Tips Newsletter, you may have noticed that I have been strangely silent the past couple of weeks”…

Well”… I’ve created a few problems for myself.

Now, I know that I will not get much sympathy due to the nature of my problem”…

But, hey”… It’s my Blog, so I’m gonna’ whine about it anyway!

As you probably already know, I’m not one of those consultants or “gurus” who teaches just theory or strategies that I don’t use myself on a daily basis.

I try to “practice what I preach” every day in my own businesses. And as a result, most of my own websites produce phenomenal conversion rates.

And that’s exactly what has caused my current dilemma.

Several of my sites that promote my consulting, coaching and website evaluation services have been converting so well for me lately, that I’ve found myself literally crushed by the volume of consulting projects, speaking engagements, training workshops and website evaluations that have been requested.

As a result, I’ve actually had to “roll back” most of the copy and design on those sites to older, less converting versions and add negative qualifiers into the copy in an attempt to free up some of my time.

It has worked and things are beginning to get back to a manageable level, however, I still need to come up with a long term solution.

Several of my coaching clients have suggested that I raise my fees, but I have been resisting doing it, because I still want to make my services accessible to the smaller businesses that I enjoy working with so much.

Don’t get me wrong, cashing $25,000+ checks from my larger “household name” e-commerce clients is pretty darn enjoyable. But, my real passion is working with the smaller businesses and website’s, where a 100% or 200% boost in conversion (and thus overall sales) can really change someone’s life.

There isn’t much that I find more enjoyable than watching one of my monthly coaching clients start with a simple ebook earning $500 a month in volume with a 0.3% conversion rate and with my assistance grow sales and conversions to the point that they are earning five figures monthly, can quit their jobs and expand that simple ebook into a multi-product online empire.

I’ll take a project like that any day over simply fattening the bottom line for some faceless dot com’s shareholders. It may not be as financially rewarding, but it’s highly rewarding on a personal level.

I guess I will have to raise my fees eventually”… Particularly for my most time consuming services, such as my Conversion Boosting Website Evaluations (I need to raise those fees pretty soon.)

But, until then I am open to any ideas you may have to help me continue to serve as many “businesses in need” as possible, without having my kids forget what I look like.

Just leave me a comment on this Blog post or email me”…

The real moral of this story is to remember, when you are offering services that require a substantial investment of your time”… Too much conversion can be as bad as not enough!
