What many of my readers may be surprised to find out about me is that the whole “Conversion Doctor” brand, represents only a small fraction of my online income.

I spend 90% of my time actually DOING this stuff and only 10% of my time TEACHING it (as you can tell by the few times I’ve posted in the last 6 months.)

So because I sell real-world products in real-world markets, unlike many of the other so-called “guru’s” who have never made a dime selling anything other than “how to make money online” products, I’ve actually had to get good at driving REAL traffic.

(The dirty secret about many “guru’s” is that the ONLY traffic source they have or know how to build is 100% dependent on big, multi-JV partner launches.)

Anyone who has been reading my blog for more than about 60 seconds knows there is a reason why Michel Fortin calls me a “Fanatical Tester”.

We Hate Spam (and our optin rate) As Much As You Do…

As I often do, I posted one of my “Conversion Tips” to Twitter today, and the response was fantastic and I got a ton of re-tweets!

This was the tip:

Conversion Tip: The words “We Hate Spam” near your optin button actually HURTS optin rates in most tests.

Several people asked me to expand on the tip, so here it goes…

I’m not sure who started it, but it’s everywhere. (I probably still have it on a few of my own sites.)

“We Hate Spam as Much As You Do!”

That’s the statement near the submit button on websites all over the net.

In fact, according to Google, the phrase “we hate spam as much as you do” is found on over 2,000,000 pages.

People see other websites using the phrase, assume it must work and paste it on their own site.
