The DEATH of Teleseminars! (Long Live Webinars!)
Okay… So perhaps teleseminars aren’t “dead”, but with everybody pronouncing “The Death” of this and “The Death” of that, I wanted to play too!
Seriously though… While teleseminars have been a highly effective way of producing content, selling products and building lists — with what seems like dozens of different teleseminars to listen to each day, their effectiveness is dropping off significantly.
It’s becoming harder and harder to get people to opt-in for telesminars, get them to actually CALL in and listen or even listen to the replay (even if they DO download it.)
That’s why I’m so excited to tell you about… A TELESEMINAR that is happening today!
But more about that in a second…
As you may know, a few months ago I did a series of webinars with my friend Jim Edwards.
We recorded a total of over 4 hours of outstanding conversion boosting strategies and tactics for both salesletters and squeeze pages.
Here’s what Jim posted in his members area after the second webinar:
“This webinar ROCKED! I personally think it was the best webinar we’ve ever done (so far) as far as packing in valuable content, execution, timing, and keeping up the pace”…”
The webinars were originally for members of Jims outstanding, “The Net Reporter” subscription site. (Which I highly encourage you to join!)
But you don’t have to join Jims site to get the incredible content we covered. Because, we’ll be releasing DVD’s from the webinar in a month or two. (So keep checking back for more info on when they will be available…)
Since doing my first webinar with Jim last year, I’ve become a “webinar fanatic”, conducting or participating in nearly a dozen webinars so far this year.
(And, I plan on doing even MORE webinars in the future!)
There are several reasons why I’m convinced that webinars will become the preferred method of delivering content for the second half of 2007 and throughout all of 2008.
First, because of the video component webinars are a much more effective teaching tool. Some people learn best via audio, but many (if not most) people absorb information much better when there is an active, visual component.
Second, (and of course I’ve tested this one…) if you have a product to promote at the end of your webinar, the conversion rates are measurable higher than delivering the same content via a teleseminar. My theory is… With teleseminars, it’s just too easy to “multitask” and surf around the internet, answer emails, play video games or do a dozen other things DURING the event.
Well, with a webinar, you have your audiences focused attention. If they want ALL of the content, they need to keep watching the screen.
Third, your attendance rates are usually much higher for webinars than for teleseminars. This is due to the significantly higher perceived value that participants place on webinars.
Fourth, because you can conduct “live” on screen polls or take questions via the chat function, webinars are far more interactive than telesminars.
Fifth, webinar recordings make outstanding products. As I mentioned Jim and I are packaging the recordings of our first two webinars together into a nice DVD set. A physical product with HIGH perceived (and actual) value.
I could go on and on… The benefits of conducting webinars just blow traditional teleseminars out of the water!
You can conduct webinars to create products, you can do webinars for your affiliates and JV partners to sell your services or products, you can promote other peoples products and you can even charge up front for the webinar itself.
The profit potential is fantastic.
SIDENTOE: If you are wondering who I use for my webinar hosting, (based on Jim’s recommendation) I’m using GotoWebinar. You can get a 1,000 “seat” webinar account for under $100 a month.
While I’ve had some pretty good success with my own webinars, Jim is literally The Webinar King!
Nobody does webinars better than Jim Edwards. Nobody!
That’s why I strongly encourage you to get on a special teleseminar tonight with Jim and Armand Morin.
(Yeah… I know. They SHOULD be doing this as a webinar! But listen to them anyway…)
