The Conversion Doctor’s Blog Is “Not Helpful”?
The other day I got an interesting comment from a new reader to my blog.
This reader named “Max” said:
Hi Eric. I heard a podcast that you were on and I signed up for your blog. You sounded like a very knowledgeable person but I have been subscribed to your blog for more than a week and I have found nothing helpful to the everyday reader.
I wish you would post more often with helpful tidbits and pointers to help conversion on websites. Something that could potentially be of value to me as a reader. After hearing you on that podcast I thought you would have a sweet blog, which I still think you can, but right now I wish for more.
Well… I do agree with Max, that I should post more often.
But to be fair, the reason I don’t post more often is because, unlike many “gurus”, I spend 90% of my time actually DOING this stuff (writing copy, testing, etc.) and only about 10% of my time TEACHING it.
The part of Max’s comment I disagree with is this, “I have found nothing helpful to the everyday reader.”
To be blunt… If you come to my blog and “find nothing helpful”, you are either not looking in the right spot, or your just not taking any action on the recommendations I make.
But for those who feel that I don’t have anything “of value to you as a reader” on my blog, here are a few of my most popular posts to get you started…

Eric, you are correct… there’s loads of valuable information throughout your blog. Information you’ve posted here, that I could have easily paid thousands of dollars for somewhere else, has helped me time and time again. If I were to compare blogs to cars, I’d call your blog a “sleeper”: kind of plain on the outside and lots of muscle and power on the inside!
Take care,
Fred

I do not agree with the “not helpful” commenter. If I want to test something, I always visit this blog and search for the topic in the archives first and ususally find great detail. Thanks Eric. Lots of very helpful info that’s probably saved me, who knows, $10K??, $20K?? in trial and error.

Hi there,
I visited this website for the first time today, and to be honest I thought this was your typical website with little to no “goldern nuggets”. Maybe your commenter is telling you exactly how hard it is to find the best posts. After reading this blog entry I can say that this website rocks! You have a new fan!
